Jeanie Marie Buss is an American businesswoman from the United States. She is the controlling owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. A California native, Buss has been raised by an affluent family. Jerry Buss' father was an investor in real estate and was later a part owner of the Lakers as well as several other companies in the field of sports. When her parents broke up in 1972 she felt that they had abandoned her. When she was 19 years old she joined the family's business as director of the Los Angeles Strings professional tennis team. She then founded the Los Angeles Blades team of professional roller hockey. She served as the president of the Great Western Forum, before being elected Vice President of the Lakers. Buss as well as her five sisters took over his Lakers control following the passing of Buss' father in 2013. Each sister had the same voice. Buss was elected president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss was also a partner in the ownership of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
