Avery Sunshine

Avery Sunshine is a mercurial musician and singer who blends soul gospel jazz and R&B with a distinctive mix. The singer's career has taken her across Broadway to European festivals and clubs to even her participation in the Democratic National Convention. Sunshine has been born Denise White. Although she lives in Atlanta however, she comes from Chester Pennsylvania where she began her musical vocation by singing and playing piano in churches. She attended Spellman College and began to study the R&B style of Atlanta. Jennifer Holliday, a Grammy and Tony Award winning vocalist who was part of the stage production Dreamgirls in the National Black Arts Festival of Atlanta in 2007, approached her about being the choir leader of this theatrical production. Sunshine became the focus of notice during the four performances during the 2008 Democratic National Convention and was later invited to sing during President Barack Obama's inauguration in 2009.
